Hi, my name is Paul Micklewright.
I grew up in Middlesbrough with my parents, Elizabeth and David, and my older brother Simon.
I have two children, Abbie and Fraser…sorry three! I have Roopert, he has joined the gang now!
I live with my partner Rosie, who has a daughter Maria. I constantly bother Rosie when I am writing my stories: “What do you think of this, what do you think of that?” etc…etc…etc.
For my day-to-day job I am a project planner, working in either the petrochemical or oil and gas industries; I have done this since 2003.
In my spare time I love nothing more than a nice walk with the “real” love of my life, Bramble, my black Labrador.
I also like to spend lots of time gardening. I never thought the day would come when I would be saying that out loud!
I feel as though I have always had a good sense of humour, and I have tried to reflect this in the writing of my books. Is there anything better than when you are having a good giggle? I’m pretty sure some of my old school teachers would have something to say about that!
We were having fun trying to make up the funniest/coolest names for a book character on a school run with Fraser back in 2014, and I won with…Roopert Snoopert!

It took five years to put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard!), and I am so glad I have, as Roopert has given me a new lease of life!
It has been great watching him evolve from simply a name to the funky-looking rabbit that he is today. He is the perfect character for me to write about; he is very funny, he is cheeky (in a nice way), he loves going on adventures and is always on the lookout for mischief…maybe I’m writing about myself! I can’t help but love him! I hope you do too!
